So loves, I attended the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo
I took pictures...
Checked out some of the amazing crafts...
Became the star of my own TV show...
Oh, and I took a couple of classes too.
My favorite class was What Comes First in Fit?
, taught by the talented Lorraine Henry.
After my last post about sizing
, I thought this session would be perfect for me. And it was truly an eye-opener! I never knew there were so many changes that could be made to commercial patterns. I just assumed that my body was wonky, and that was the reason I had to add and subtract all over the place!
We were given great tips and tricks for making patterns work for your figure, and I can't wait to try them out.
Lorraine also shared the name of one of her favorite books--one that I plan on getting my hands on ASAP.
Fitting & Pattern Alteration: A Multi-Method Approach to the Art of Style Selection, Fitting, and Alteration
Elizabeth Liechty, Judith Rasband, and Della Pottbery-Steineckert
This has to be one of the most comprehensive books out there. It even breaks things down by body type. There's something for virtually EVERYBODY!
Consider this a Sewcial Studies must-have!!
What are some of your favorite books and sewing resources?
I'd love to discover more and feature them on my Sewcial Studies list!
